With decades of experience, our instructors at Ormskirk Shotokan Karate Club are committed to teaching traditional Shotokan Karate, drawing from their extensive training with Japanese masters worldwide.

Who are Our Instructors

Chief Instructor

Sensei John Errington (7th Dan JTKI)

With over 50 years of experience, Sensei Errington has travelled the world, training with many legendary instructors from the world of Karate and competing in multiple national and international championships.

In addition to having one of the highest Dan grades in the country (7th Dan), he is also a fully qualified instructor and judge for the Japan Karate Association (JKA).

Assistant Chief Instructor

Sensei Steve Kirrelly (6th Dan JKA)

With over 50 years of experience, Sensei Kirrelly, like Sensei Errington, has travelled the world, training with many legendary instructors in the world of Karate and competing in multiple national and international championships.

Sensei Kirrelly is also a fully qualified instructor and judge for the Japan Karate Association (JKA) and holds the high rank of 6th Dan.

Club Instructor & Adult Safeguarding Officer

Sensei Mark Warren (6th Dan JKA)

Sensei Warren is our Adult Safeguarding Officer and one of our club's Instructors.

Sensei Warren has attended and competed in multiple courses and competitions over the years, in addition to running his own dojo; he is one of our club's most experienced instructors.

Club Instructor

Sensei Andy Durney (5th Dan JKA)

Sensei Durney is one of our club's Instructors.

A member of Ormskirk Shotokan Karate Club for many years, attending and competing in multiple courses and competitions, Sensei Durney now runs the occasional session for the club, teaching both dan grade and kyu grade classes.
